Education

-University of Utah, 3rd year Honors student -Triple-major: Political Science, International Studies, Asian Studies -Minor: Chinese -GPA: 3.97 When I was 12 (7th grade) I took community college classes at Ohlone College up until I was 17 (12th grade). Afterwards, I continued my education at the University of Utah Honors College. Last year (2014-2015), I spent a year studying Political Science and Chinese in Taiwan at National Taiwan University (the top university in Taiwan). I am currently at the U finishing my degrees.

Experience

STRENGTHS: Chinese, English/Writing, Political Science/International Studies (2011-2013) Previously a tutor at Hannsing Afterschool Chinese Immersion Program (2012-2013) Promoted as head tutor and teacher, taught grades 1-3 English and Math Languages: Fluent in English, advanced Chinese, conversational Vietnamese I have many years experience tutoring kids in the past, and I hope to expand on that experience by continuing to tutor and teach. During my time at Hannsing Afterschool Program, I would devote around 20 hours a week helping teachers set up programs as well as tutoring children on various subjects and checking their homework. When I was a senior, I was promoted to head tutor where I oversaw all the tutors’ activities as well as became a teacher and taught elementary school children math and English. I also am a part of U-FIT at the U, where I work with mentally and/or physically disabled children and participate in activities, exercises, and games together. It encourages them to interact with other students their age, as well as helps get them moving and having fun. During high school, I was the president of the top student-run service learning organization in the world (Kiwanis Educated Youth), yearbook editor, and seal-bearer at CSF (California Scholarship Federation, which emphasizes on volunteerism, grades, and leadership). At the University of Utah, I am also involved with ASUU, Political Science Student Advisory Committee, Honors Student Advisory Committee, and the Hinckley Institute. I have also received many scholarships and awards of recognition at the U. I am open to also giving any advice to incoming middle schoolers, high schoolers, or university students in terms of extracurriculars, work, internships, classes, and any other questions they may have. I hope to be a good resource for my student, and develop a meaningful tutor-student relationship with them. I hope to not only be a tutor, but mentor and friend as well.

Hobbies

I am extremely passionate about volunteering and doing outreach. In the future, I plan to work for an NGO or other volunteer organization. I am currently learning several languages (Chinese, Vietnamese, and soon Spanish and Japanese) in order to do so. I also enjoy traveling, and I have been to several countries in the past few years. I also earn the money I need to travel, so I enjoy setting goals for myself and then working and saving towards that goal. In my free time, I like to play piano, bake/cook, and do art/draw. I would be happy to teach piano, or even bake/draw together for fun.
